Serge and Adsonomy: two ways to run ChatGPT ads

Compare two ChatGPT Ads tools: Serge prepares campaigns for your approval; Adsonomy optimises a running account. Features, pricing and who each suits.

One ad account branches into two paths: preparing and approving before launch, tuning and delegating after launch.
The short answer

Both run ChatGPT ads from your own OpenAI account. Choose Serge to go from a website to a reviewed campaign and approve every amount yourself. Choose Adsonomy to optimise live campaigns, connect a shop or feed, and delegate changes within guardrails.

Adsonomy’s own site and pricing as read on 28 September 2026, and Serge’s published pricing and product. Written by Serge’s founder.

Where each tool does its work.

Before launch

Serge

Website to plan, ads and artwork. You approve the exact amount and currency before anything runs.

After launch

Adsonomy

Rules, pacing and bid changes on a running account, with as much or as little delegated as you choose.

Both connect your own OpenAI ad account with an API key. Give each campaign one owner.

I build Serge, so read this knowing that. I've tried to describe Adsonomy the way its own site does, and every claim about it below comes from adsonomy.com as I read it on 28 September 2026. If something there has changed, their site is right and this post is out of date.

The short version: we both make software on top of OpenAI's Ads API, and with both you keep your own ad account and pay OpenAI directly for the ads. After that we made opposite bets. Serge puts its effort into the campaign before it runs and keeps every spending decision with you. Adsonomy puts its effort into the account while it runs and lets you hand over more of the day-to-day decisions, step by step.

What each one is

Serge is made by Superstellar LLC in Zug, Switzerland. You give it your website; it builds a business profile you confirm, proposes a campaign (buyer, problem, angle and reasons), writes chat card ads with artwork you can edit, and saves a daily or total budget. You connect your OpenAI account with an API key, the campaign is built paused, and it runs only when you approve the exact amount and currency. After that it shows OpenAI's review verdict and serving status for each ad, daily impressions, clicks and conversions, and lets you edit a built ad, change the cap, pause, or bring an existing campaign from your account into Serge. It doesn't change a bid or a budget on its own.

Adsonomy is built in the Netherlands and calls itself "the ChatGPT Ads manager". Its AI manager, Nomy, syncs the account every 15 to 30 minutes, runs an optimisation hourly, daily or weekly, scouts each week for products and pages without ads, and writes a daily brief of at most 150 words. How much Nomy may do is a policy you choose: suggest only (the default), act on high confidence, or full auto within guardrails. It can apply pause, activate, budget, bid, context hint and daily cap changes itself; new campaigns, new ad groups, creative, conversion settings, objective or bidding changes and archiving always wait for a person. Shadow mode records what it would do without sending anything to OpenAI, and every change goes into a journal you can revert, with a seven-day before-and-after check.

Where Adsonomy is the better fit

If you already run campaigns and the work is keeping them tuned, Adsonomy is built for that and Serge isn't. Adsonomy describes scheduling, pacing and CPA or ROAS targets within its optimisation workflow. You can let Nomy act on its own once you trust it, with shadow mode as the rehearsal. Its daily spend cap is checked before every change, whoever or whatever makes it.

Shops are its home ground. It connects Shopify, WooCommerce and BigCommerce directly, reads a Google Shopping or Channable feed from anything else, delivers OpenAI's product feed, sends orders back as server-side conversions, and checks for stock-outs in every optimisation run. Serge supports chat card ads only and has no product feed.

It also covers more ground: advertisers in the EU, the US and Asia, several ad accounts on the bigger plans, and an agency plan with a separate workspace, guardrails and reporting per client. Serge is available only in Switzerland for now and has no agency plan.

Where Serge is the better fit

If you're starting from a website and nothing else, Serge does the part before the first campaign. It reads the site, asks you to confirm the facts, and gives you a reasoned plan and finished ads with artwork, so the first thing you review is a campaign rather than an empty form. A lean team that doesn't have a copywriter or a media buyer gets the brief, the words and the picture in one place.

It suits people who want to decide spend themselves. Nothing in Serge raises a bid or a budget, and running needs a separate approval of the exact amount and currency, checked again against what OpenAI reads back. That's a narrower product than an autopilot, on purpose.

And the price doesn't move with spend. CHF 159 a month is the same at CHF 1,000 of ad spend as at CHF 50,000. On Adsonomy's plans the fee starts once spend passes what the plan includes: Control, for example, is EUR 99 including EUR 10,000, so at EUR 20,000 of monthly spend it comes to EUR 99 plus 1.3% of the extra EUR 10,000, which is EUR 229 before VAT. Below the included spend, Starter and Control cost less than Serge's monthly fee.

Choosing

  • Starting ChatGPT ads from your website, and you want to see the reasoning and approve every franc: Serge.
  • A shop with a catalogue, or campaigns already live that you want optimised, with the option to delegate: Adsonomy.
  • Outside Switzerland: Adsonomy, for now.

If you connect both tools, give each campaign one owner. Two tools making changes to the same campaign, or either of us alongside edits in OpenAI's Ads Manager, can overwrite each other without warning.

Questions, answered

What is the difference between Serge and Adsonomy?

Both are independent tools built on OpenAI's Ads API, and with both you keep your own OpenAI ad account. Serge turns your website into a campaign plan and ads you review, and never changes spend without your explicit approval. Adsonomy manages a running account: its AI manager, Nomy, can adjust bids, budgets and pacing within guardrails you set, and it connects shops and product feeds.

How is each one priced?

Serge is CHF 9 for the first month, then CHF 159 a month including VAT, with no share of ad spend. Adsonomy says it is free until 15 October 2026; after that its plans run from EUR 49 to EUR 799 a month excluding VAT, each including an amount of ad spend, plus a fee of 0.8 to 1.5 percent on spend above it. With both, ad spend is paid to OpenAI separately.

Can I use both?

If you connect both tools, give each campaign one owner. Two tools changing the same campaigns, or either tool alongside edits in OpenAI's own Ads Manager, can overwrite each other.

I’m building Serge. These notes come from the platform documentation, our own setup tests and the questions I’m still working through.

Put the reading to work.

Serge turns your website into a ChatGPT campaign you can review, from the ad account you own. Campaign preparation is included in your Serge subscription; ad spend is separate.
